The former director of sales at ABC affil KIVI and Fox affil KNIN, has served as interim GM since this spring.
Journal Broadcast Group today named Ken Ritchie vice president and general manager of its KIVI (ABC) and KNIN (Fox) in Boise, Idaho (DMA 109). Ritchie has served as interim GM for the stations since spring.
“Ken has been a longtime sales leader at our Boise operations and is well respected in the stations and in the community,” said Debbie Turner, EVP of Television for Journal Broadcast Group. “He is a natural fit to take on the official role of general manager and will serve us well in growing the organization. His television knowledge, people leadership and community involvement will be an asset to not only Journal Broadcast Group, but the Boise market has well.”
Ritchie started with KIVI in 1975 as an account manager and over the years was promoted to roles of increasing responsibility, including local sales manager and general sales manager until he left the company for a short time to pursue a career in another industry. He returned to KIVI as general sales manager in 2002 when the station was purchased by Journal Broadcast Group.
In 2009, Ritchie was named the stations’ director of sales, and has acted as interim general manager beginning in spring of this year.
A graduate of the University of Idaho with a bachelor’s degree in broadcasting, Ritchie was president of the Idaho State Broadcasters Association in 2003-04.
