Media General moves him from KWQC Quad Cities to succeed the retiring Dan Bradley as head of the Ohio NBC affiliate beginning Jan. 1.
Media General today named Kenneth M. Freedman vice president and general manager of its NBC affiliate WCMH Columbus, Ohio (DMA 32), effective Jan. 1, 2015.
Freedman is currently VP-GM of KWQC, Media General’s NBC affiliate in Quad Cities, IA/IL. Freedman will succeed current WCMH VP-GM Dan Bradley, who is retiring at the end of this year following a 40-year broadcasting career. Freedman will work with Bradley in the interim to provide for a smooth transition.

McDermott, SVP-broadcast markets for Media General. “Ken is a strong leader and great competitor. He has had much success in Davenport and is the right person to assume the leadership role at WCMH.”

Prior to joining KWQC in 2011 in his current position, Freedman had been director of sales and marketing for KGW Portland, Ore., since 2006. Before that, he was VP-general sales manager of KSTU Salt Lake City since 2003.
Prior to that, he served in sales leadership positions at WOFL-WRBW Orlando, Fla.; WKMG Orlando; HRP in New York City; and with Blair TV in New York City.
Freedman graduated from Kent State University with a B.A. in telecommunications. He completed the National Association of Broadcasters Executive Development program.
