The network will appear on Media General’s KALB-DT beginning in January as one of two digital channels. The other will continue to air NBC.
CBS announced today that it signed a long-term affiliation agreement with Media General’s KALB-DT Alexandria, La. (DMA 179). Beginning Jan. 1, 2007, KALB’s digital transmitter will begin airing two signals. One will continue to air NBC and all its other current programs. The other channel will carry CBS programming and introduce other new programs to the area.
Peter Schruth, president, CBS Affiliate Relations, said: “This is the first time that CBS has had a home base in Alexandria. The addition of KALB-DT to our affiliate lineup enables the network to enhance its presence in central Louisiana. There are the added benefits of working with the skilled management team at the top-rated station in the market, as well as with Media General, one of the leading station operators in the country.”
John Cottingham, senior vice president, broadcast stations, Media General Broadcast Division, said: “We welcome the opportunity to bring CBS’s quality entertainment, news and sports programming to our audiences and advertisers in Alexandria. This is our first CBS-NBC dual affiliation and we look forward to maximizing the new sales and marketing opportunities presented by this powerful combination.”
