AP Exec Brian Hopman New Head Of ENPS

The longtime Associated Press manager will succeed the now-retired Lee Perryman as head of the multiplatform news production system. Also given new positions are Andy Wormser and Jason Smith.

 

The Associated Press today named Brian Hopman, a company executive with broad international experience, vice president and general manager of ENPS, its multiplatform news production system used by more than 65,000 news professionals in 900 newsrooms globally

In his new role, Hopman will be responsible for managing the ENPS business globally, reporting to SVP-CFO Ken Dale.

“Brian brings a wealth of experience as an international revenue leader for AP and has a deep knowledge of the ENPS product,” Dale said. “ENPS is a core business for AP and I’m thrilled Brian will be leading it for us and am confident he will enhance and strengthen ENPS’s leadership as the most innovative and essential newsroom production system in the market.”

“ENPS plays an important role for hundreds of media outlets around the globe and I see many opportunities for us to grow,” Hopman said. “With the help of an excellent team and feedback from a great set of customers, we’re going to keep making ENPS stronger and more essential. I’m very excited about the opportunity to lead this team.”

Hopman, who joined AP in 1998, has been AP’s general manager for Latin American and Spanish media markets since 2010. Previously he served as a regional director for broadcast markets in Latin America and the Southeast and was a national television executive. He began his career at AP with ENPS, supporting ENPS’s U.S. customers.

Hopman graduated from Marquette University with degrees in broadcast journalism and political science and earned his MBA at the University of Maryland. Hopman succeeds Lee Perryman, who retired in 2015.

AP also named Andy Wormser as ENPS director of product design and Americas operations. Wormser, who joined ENPS in 2006, takes on a larger role overseeing global product development and design for ENPS while continuing to manage operations and support for the Americas. 

In addition, Jason Smith was named director of customer engagement and escalation, a new role focusing on keeping key customers engaged and serving as an escalation point and technical resource to the global operations teams.
