First-day ratings are down from both lead-ins and year ago.
Day-one ratings of Fox’s new The Morning Show with Mike and Juliet, which debuted Monday on 25 Fox-owned outlets, were no threat to Buena Vista’s Live with Regis and Kelly, which ran head to head against it in New York.
The long-running Regis and Kelly had more than five times the rating of the newcomer— Regis and Kelly generated a 5.3 rating/19 share on WABC New York versus a 0.9/3 for the first day of the new show starring Mike Jerrick and Juliet Huddy that aired on Fox’s WNYW.
The first day’s rating for The Morning Show was much worse than the numbers for Warner Bros.’ Tyra Banks, the show it replaced in its New York and Los Angeles time periods. The New York rating for The Morning Show, 0.9/3, was 18% below the 1.1/4 that Tyra averaged in the time period last January; and The Morning Show’s 1.2/5 in Los Angeles was 14% lower than Tyra’s 1.4/6 last year at this time.
Overall, the premiere of The Morning Show averaged a 1.6/5 in 25 metered markets, airing mainly at 9 or 10 a.m. This was down 38% from its average lead-in of 2.6/9, and 20% below its year-ago time period average of a 2.0/7.
