Carlos Watson, a former former cable-news commentator and host who founded Ozy in 2013, told CNBC Monday morning that he has been meeting with advertisers and investors over the weekend and that he wants Ozy to continue to be around. The company did not answer emailed questions Monday about whether employees were still working or getting paid or how Ozy intended to stay open.

Lena Pietsch, director of policy communications for Facebook, fired back Sunday night (Oct. 3) against a segment of 60 Minutes revealing the identity of a company whistleblower as former product manager Frances Hougan. “On Sunday, CBS 60 Minutes ran a segment that used select company materials to tell a misleading story about the research we do to improve our products,” Pietsch said. “The segment also disregards the significant investments we make to keep people safe on our platform and seeks to impugn the motivations of our company.”

After less than a week since Ozy Media was exposed for inflating numbers and potential fraud, the media venture is shutting down.
Natalie Morales told staffers on Friday that she plans to leave NBC News for an unspecified new opportunity. Morales will continue to appear on Dateline through the rest of the year and will have a farewell on Today in the coming weeks. Morales has been with the network for 22 years.
