Journal Broadcast Group- owned NBC affiliate WTMJ says it will expand its weekday morning newscast to start at 4:30 a.m., 30 minutes earlier than the current 5 a.m. The 4:30 a.m. Live at Daybreak starts Jan. 20.

LIN’s Alabama Fox affiliate is adding a half-hour and starting its Fox10 Morning News at 4:30 starting Aug. 27.

In Grand Rapids, Mich., early risers have more news options. LIN-owned NBC affiliate WOOD debuted its earler morning newscast today, while Freedom-owned CBS affil WWMT introduced its 4:30 a.m. broadcast a week earlier.

The Sinclair Broadcasting-owned CBS affiliate in Grand Rapids-Kalamazoo-Battle Creek, Mich., added a half-hour to its morning news today.

On Monday, the Cordillera Communications-owned NBC affiliate will begin airing local news from 4:30-5 a.m. weekdays, expanding its 5-7 a.m. news block anchored by Chris Goodman and Nicole Pence.
