According to an individual with knowledge of the situation, the fifth season of the spinoff series will consist of 12 episodes. Fox will use Lone Star, its highest-rated drama, to launch its new shows Doc and Rescue: Hi-Surf, both of which were ordered earlier this year but have yet to begin production.
Fox has renewed 9-1-1: Lone Star, starring Rob Lowe, for a fifth season. It will be the only 9-1-1 series on the network next season as flagship 9-1-1 is not being renewed. (It is moving to ABC.)
New series The Cleaning Lady, Pivoting and Monarch are also set for early 2022 premieres at the broadcaster.
Liv Tyler has opted out of season two of Fox’s 911: Lone Star. The actress, who had a multiple-year deal for the Fox procedural, will not return to the Tim Minear drama amid issues related to the coronavirus pandemic. Tyler had previously commuted from London to Los Angeles, where the Austin-set series is filmed.
