The American Federation of Musicians has reached a TV videotape agreement with ABC, CBS and NBC that covers variety shows like American Idol and latenight TV. The new three-year deal includes wage increases; increased pension, health and welfare contributions; and new media provisions requiring residuals when TV shows are used or reused in webcasts or online.
The American Federation of Musicians’ complaint is that its performers haven’t been given a pay raise or healthcare increases in seven years on live-audience network shows. So the AFM is protesting outside The Tonight Show, Dancing With The Stars, Today, Good Morning America, The Late Show With David Letterman and Jimmy Kimmel Live.
