There are more than 180 candidates running for Chicago’s mayor, city council and other municipal positions, and no one is tracking the races to as granular a level as Aldertrack. The free daily newsletter goes to 4,200 subscribers and is run by a small team of politically-obsessed volunteers offering original reporting, aggregation, reader-submitted information and candidate interviews. With 600 others paying for a daily PDF, Aldertrack’s founders are trying to gauge how many others will pay for its brand of inside baseball.
