AMC Networks has enabled advertisers to buy live linear inventory programmatically on three of its networks — an industry first, according to the media company. Starting this month, programmatic buying is fully operational on AMC, WE TV and BBC America. The company worked with FreeWheel, The Trade Desk and Canoe Ventures to implement the technology.
Killing Eve is coming to an end with its delayed fourth season but BBC America is developing a number of potential spinoffs. The cat-and-mouse thriller, which stars Jodie Comer and Sandra Oh, is set to start filming season four in the U.K. and across Europe early this summer and the eight-episode run will premiere in 2022. The network and production company didn’t disclose specific spinoff ideas and sources suggest that there’s nothing firm in the pipeline but it’s clear that the AMC Networks-owned channel is keen to extend the Killing Eve universe.
Killing Eve made a killing in the ratings for its second-season premiere. The BBC America thriller, which grew its audience with every episode last season (after three days of delayed viewing), continued that trend Sunday as its second-season premiere was simulcast on sister network AMC. The premiere hit series highs across the board, topping 1 million viewers for an initial telecast for the first time.
AMC Pitches All 5 Nets, Unified Buying
AMC Networks kicked off its spring ad sales efforts at an event Thursday night in New York that grouped all of its five networks under one upfront umbrella for the first time. They are: AMC, SundanceTV, BBC America, WEtv and IFC. The theme of this upfront was audience engagement and quality content.

That said, AMC will have operational control of BBC America, including affiliate and advertising sales.
