Brandon Stoddard, Former ABC Exec, Dies

Brandon Stoddard, the longtime executive who helped brings Roots to ABC along with such other landmark miniseries and developed Schoolhouse Rock and the ABC Afterschool Specials, died Monday of cancer at his Bel-Air home. He was 77. He was inducted into the Television Academy Hall of Fame in March.

Other inductees by the Television Academy this year are Julia Louis-Dreyfus; David E. Kelley; and former ABC executive Brandon Stoddard, who shepherded breakthrough shows including Roots. Sound pioneer Ray Dolby was inducted posthumously.
