Former ABC Creatives Brian Morewitz And Melanie Frankel To Lead Development At Kapital Entertainment
Former ABC head of drama Brian Morewitz and former ABC Signature head of comedy Melanie Frankel have joined Aaron Kaplan’s Kapital Entertainment as heads of creative. The two will share developmental oversight of comedy and drama projects for the company, which already has a full slate of series in the works.
Brian Morewitz is leaving ABC after almost 17 years, the last five as SVP and head of drama development for the Disney-owned network. There is no immediate replacement for him.
In another case of ABC promoting within, new ABC Entertainment President Channing Dungey has named Brian Morewitz to replace her as the new head of the network’s drama department. Morewitz, most recently VP, drama development, has been upped to SVP, charged with overseeing the development and production of all drama pilots and the launch of new drama series for ABC Entertainment.
