John Malone’s Liberty Media Corp. has started the process of spinning off its cable assets through a stock dividend to its shareholders to form a new listed company called Liberty Broadband. Liberty Broadband, in a regulatory filing, says the stock dividend would be worth up to $4.8 billion and Malone would retain a voting interest of 47.3%.
VH1’s Dating Naked is the latest example of reality television’s newest trend: Nudity is hot, no longer confined to latenight premium cable. Leading the way is Discovery’s Naked and Afraid, on which a man and woman who don’t know each other fend for themselves in the wilderness for three weeks without a stitch between them. That program’s success since its June 2013 premiere begat Dating Naked and TLC’s real estate show Buying Naked, with more in the planning stages.
