2014 and 2015 NCAA men’s basketball tournament games will air on TBS as yet another major sporting event jumps from broadcast. Three years ago Turner began broadcasting the first five rounds of the tournament along with CBS, but the marquee Final Four contests had remained on broadcast. Under the new arrangement, which covers 2014 and 2015, CBS will retain custody of the NCAA men’s basketball final. In 2016, TBS will televise both the Final Four and the national championship, then the three games will switch to CBS in 2017.
George H.W. Bush was president, Joan Lunden still co-hosted Good Morning America and David Letterman continued to fester at NBC the last time this happened. CBS will march into next season as the No. 1 network among 18-to-49-year-olds for the first time in 21 years. And, CBS as usual will win in total viewers, although this time it’s a mega-rout. The network is averaging 12 million viewers in the season-to-date averages, followed by ABC (7.8 million), Fox (7.1 million) and NBC (7 million).

While tweeting that the sitcom would return next season, it didn’t address whether the full cast would be back. Angus T. Jones’ character is serving in the Army this season and has been somewhat less visible.

Five Questions For CBS As Upfront Nears
The biggest question CBS faces heading into its May 15 upfront presentation is how long ratings for aging shows like NCIS, Survivor, CSI, The Amazing Race and Two and a Half Men will hold up. All have aired for at least 10 seasons.
No network has done a better job of consistently stocking its lineup with new hits than CBS. As a result, it is expected to bring back a whopping 20 series for next season, and certainly doesn’t have much shelf-space for new shows. However, it is stepping up the hunt for its next big laffer.
Why No Upfront Predictions From Moonves?
During the TV upfronts, there’s one thing buyers have come to expect as much as star sightings, free-flowing booze and Fox-party shrimp: Chest-thumping over price increases by CBS’s Les Moonves. But this year, there’s been nothing but silence from the Eye Network head honcho.
NEW YORK (AP) — After two initial replays, CBS stopped showing footage Sunday of Louisville basketball player Kevin Ware breaking his leg during the first half of his team’s NCAA […]

What Will CBS Do With TVGN?
CBS’s new stake in the TVGN basic cable channel could result in a TV network wholly devoted to celebrity gossip, style and red carpet coverage. CBS Corp. and co-owner Lionsgate said this week that they will introduce a new brand and programming strategy for the channel, until recently called the TV Guide Network, but that it will continue its current focus on entertainment. But the assets and ambitions of each owner suggest noticeable changes are in store.
CBS has been dominant in the ratings this year and lately has taken to predating the annual release of its fall schedule in May with an announcement of mass renewals earlier in the spring.
The two parties take a 50-50 partnership stake in the cable network, which reaches 80 million homes, and TVGuide.com. CBS is buying its half from One Equity Partners, a private equity firm run by JPMorgan Chase.

The new iPad and iPhone apps offer the network’s primetime programming eight days after broadcast; daytime and latenight programming the day after broadcast. CBS plans to expand to all major mobile and tablet platforms later this year.
CBS is sticking with Golden Boy on Tuesdays. The midseason drama, starring Theo James as an ambitious cop who becomes the youngest police commissioner in New York City history, will stay put in the 10 p.m. Tuesday slot after two weeks in the time period. This comes three months after CBS announced that it would sample Golden Boy in Vegas‘ time slot before moving it to its 9 p.m. Friday home.
