Nexstar Media Group’s The CW Network has appointed Ashley Hovey chief digital officer, a new title at the network, effective April 17. Hovey had been senior director for AVOD at The Roku Channel. At The CW, she will oversee business strategy and day-to-day operations of the network’s digital operations and streaming platforms.
He is joining the cable public affairs networks from the Pew Research Center.

Chief Digital Officer may be a relatively new title, but the number of individuals who have it is surging. According to a study by the CDO Club, the number of CDOs doubled from 2013 to roughly 1,000 in 2014, with advertising, media and publishing employing most of them. That number is expected to double again to 2,000 this year.
