Disney has named Tinisha Agramonte its new chief diversity officer and senior vice president, effective immediately. Agramonte replaces Disney‘s former head of diversity, equity and inclusion operations Latondra Newton, who stepped down from the role in June. She will report directly to Sonia Coleman, Disney’s senior executive vice president and chief human resources officer.
Disney’s chief diversity officer and senior vice president Latondra Newton is exiting her role after more than six years, according to an internal memo. An individual with knowledge of the situation says that Newton will be joining the corporate board of another company soon, and plans to devote more time to her self-owned creative company.
Human resources executive Courtney Williams is promoted to the newly created postion of leading companywide efforts to expand diversity in hiring, promotion and retention.
He will oversee attracting, retaining and growing diverse talent, developing training programs to enhance awareness and accountability in diversity issues as well as facilitating the company’s racial diversity and inclusion employee working group.
WarnerMedia, the media and entertainment arm of CNN parent company AT&T, said Thursday that it is creating a new role: chief diversity and inclusion officer. The announcement came in an internal memo by WarnerMedia chief John Stankey, who said the role will help “transform our culture to one of even greater inclusion and belonging.” The individual will report directly to Stankey, who said the role will be added to his leadership team “in the coming weeks.”
