Locast delivers more than 45 local TV channels in the Columbus DMA, including WCMH, WSYX, WBNS, WTTE, PBS, PBS Kids, as well as DABL, Telemundo, Antenna, CourtTV, Movies, MeTV, TrueCrime, CW, Circle, Bounce, Quest, Laff, Comet, HSN, Grit, Charge! and more.
Overall TV spending in the Ohio market is down this year, but political has been huge, with record numbers likely for a Senate election and, of course, the presidential race that has been pouring money into the swing state.
Aereo Adds Four Markets To Launch List
Next up on the streaming provider’s list is Cincinnati, Columbus, Indianapolis and San Antonio. An actual launch date hasn’t been set, but the company is hoping to go live in those cities by year’s end.
That’s great news for the area’s TV stations battered by a recession that torpedoed their commercial advertisers. “We’re on the other end saying, ‘Thank you.’ We’re running around with a bushel basket trying to catch it when it falls,” said Tom Griesdorn, GM of WBNS, the Columbus CBS affiliate.
