Dancing with the Stars‘ ratings heated up for last night’s semifinal performance as a number of broadcast shows saw their numbers climb on an evening full of season finales. Dancing was the night’s top-rated show with a 4.4 adults 18-49 rating from 8 to 10 p.m., up from a 4.2 last week and leading ABC to an easy victory on the night, 52% ahead of No. 2 Fox.
Airing opposite the NCAA men’s basketball title game on CBS, ABC’s Dancing with the Stars slid 12% in its third week to a 4.6 adults 18-49 rating. That’s still a strong rating, putting it second behind the game for the night. And Stars actually pulled its biggest audience ever against the annual CBS broadcast, 21.4 million viewers, though that was down more than a million from last week.
Dancing With the Stars returned strong for its 12th season last night against much weaker competition on CBS. The ABC reality show notched its third-best premiere ever in total viewers as stars including Kirstie Alley, Ralph Macchio and Kendra Wilkinson performed for the first time.

The season 11 finale last night averaged 24.1 million total viewers at 9 p.m. on ABC, and a 5.3 adults 18-49 rating, the latter up 23% over last fall’s finale. It marked its best finale in total viewers in six seasons and its best among 18-49s in five.
Dancing With the Stars producers said Tuesday the contestants received a “record amount of activity,” which overloaded its online and phone voting system after Monday’s final competition show. The network has been denying voting issues all season in light of Bristol Palin’s longevity on the show.
