Knight Lab: Media’s Digital Silos Must End

Digital innovators need to break down their company’s silos, and J. Miranda Mulligan, the new executive director for the Knight News Innovation Lab at Northwestern University, says her lab is a model for change. Engineers work side by side with journalists to develop digital newsroom tools for current ground level problems and blue sky possibilities: “We don’t know whether or not some of these ideas will become sustainable businesses, but some of them might eventually go down that road,” Mulligan says.
