Disney-ABC has completed broadcast syndication sales for the sitcom, which has been cleared in more than 90% of the country with Tribune Broadcasting as the core station group for its launch in fall 2018 when the award-winning comedy also begins airing on FX and BET.
Farley is a one-time co-executive producer of CBS Television Distribution’s Rachael Ray and producer on Warner Bros.’ Rosie O’Donnell Show. The panel talk show, set to debut this fall, features Tyra Banks along with Chrissy Teigen, Joe Zee, Lauren Makk and Leah Ashley.
CBS Television Distribution’s Rachael Ray has been on CBS stations in Los Angeles and San Francisco and Tribune’s WGN Chicago and Titan’s KUBE Houston. ABC says it has not yet decided where it is going to put Rachael in the KABC and KGO lineups, but speculation is it could take 3-4 p.m. now occupied by Katie, which is not returning in the fall.
“We did not see the kind of rebound after the Olympics that we thought we would see,” Jay Rasulo told an investors conference in New York Thursday. However, he said that Disney, which owns networks ABC and ESPN, does not expect the weakness to persist in the October-December quarter.
TNT has purchased Disney-ABC’s Castle, starring Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic, to begin airing on the basic cable network next summer. TNT bought both the rights to air the show on its main channel as well as online through Time Warner’s “TV Everywhere” rollout.
