Disney Branded Television said it hired Jenna Boyd as senior VP of development, a new position at the company. Most recently, Boyd oversaw her own production company, Field Day Entertainment. She also served as a manager of The Cartel to develop a roster of talent and create kids, family and animation programming for broadcaster and streamers. At Disney, Boyd will oversee the scripted series development team and creatively supervise the production of scripted series pilots for Disney Plus and Disney Channel.
Disney Branded Television has promoted four key execs on its Original Movies team. Amee Dolleman and Charles Pugliese have been elevated to vice president, original movies, Disney Branded Television, and Mahita Penke and Jennifer Dubin have been upped to executive director, original movies, Disney Branded Television. The Disney Branded Television team, led by Lauren Kisilevsky, SVP, Original Movies, has broadened its movie production slate over the past two years.
Former Fox Entertainment Head of Drama Charlie Andrews has joined Disney Branded Television as EVP, live-action and alternative television. He will be the No.2 on the creative side to Ayo Davis, president, Disney Branded Television, to whom he will report.
NCIS star Wilmer Valderrama is fixin’ to saddle up as Don Diego de la Vega and his masked alter ego Zorro in an update of the ABC series from the late 1950s. The project, which is in development at Disney Branded Television, is described as a reimagining of the Zorro series that starred Guy Williams and aired from 1957-59, and spawned a quartet of Walt Disney anthology specials.
Brenda Kelly-Grant (r) has been named SVP, casting and talent relations, Disney Branded Television. She will succeed Judy Taylor, who will retire at the end of the year after a career that has spanned nearly half a century.
Ayo Davis has been named president of Disney Branded Television today by Peter Rice, Chairman Disney General Entertainment (DGE), to whom she will report.
