Ellen DeGeneres’ game show Ellen’s Game of Games is not coming back to NBC. The series launched with an eight-episode order in 2017 and its fourth season, which debuted in October 2020 and ran through May 2021, featured 20 episodes.
NBC will continue its relationship with Ellen DeGeneres: The network has renewed her unscripted show Ellen’s Game of Games for a fourth season. DeGeneres announced the pickup Tuesday on her daytime talk show during a round of “Danger Word,” one of the contests she features on Game of Games.
The new year is less than two weeks old, but it’s already delivered at least two potential new broadcast TV hits: Ellen’s Game of Games and Ryan Murphy’s 9-1-1. Both shows launched to big audiences earlier this month and have held up in their subsequent outings.
Following Ellen’s Game of Games’ strong ratings in its regular slot debut, the breakout new alternative series hosted and executive produced by Ellen DeGeneres has been picked up by NBC for a 13-episode second season.
NBC is turning to Ellen DeGeneres and her syndicated daytime talk show for its latest game show. The network has handed out a six-episode series order to Ellen’s Game of Games, an hourlong game show based on popular games from The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
