Televisa To Produce English-Language Shows

In a bid to tap the burgeoning English-speaking Hispanic market in the U.S. and around the world, Mexican media giant Televisa has moved to co-produce a host of English-language TV productions with Canada, starting with spy thriller series Duality starring Dougray Scott (Hemlock Grove, Desperate Housewives, Taken 3). Televisa will offer the debut series at Mipcom.

New Site Targets English-Speaking Hispanics

Univision is launching an English-language video channel today called TheFlama.com with an eye on Hispanics between ages 15 and 30. The initiative builds on the youngster-targeted, English-language television channel, Fusion, which Univision debuted last fall in conjunction with Disney. The developments underscore a widely held belief among marketers that Hispanic teens and young adults speak Spanish with their families while addressing their friends in English.
