At least seven employees of Raycom’s CBS affiliate WTOL Toledo, Ohio, including three on-air personalities, were fired Monday. The names of those who were let go have not been released. The station posted job listings this week for positions that included two anchors, one meteorologist, a news producer and three content specialists.
In a meeting for managers at the Sinclair-owned West Palm Beach, Fla., CBS affiliate late last year, GM Mike Pumo, HR boss Julie Dyer and News Director Mike McCormick purportedly discussed how to properly and legally fire station employees and McCormick worried that firings in 2014 may have been illegal.
Anchors Claudia Shea and Ric Blackwell and reporter and weekend anchor Kara Kostanich are among as many as 10 employees fired Friday by the Freedom Communications West Palm Beach, Fla., Fox affiliate.
