Frndly TV, the low-priced, family-friendly streaming service, said it launched a channel store where users can sign up for subscription streaming services. Lifetime Movie Club, History Vault, A&E Crime Central, from A+E Networks, and Great American Pure Flix will be added to the channel store.
Low-cost, family-oriented streaming service Frndly TV said it will add local TV stations to its lineup in six markets this month. The stations will give Frndly subscribers more access to local news and syndicated programming.
Frndly TV, which bills itself as the affordable TV service for the whole family, said it continued to grow in the second quarter, posting gains in subscriber usage and advertising impressions. The amount of time Frndly TV subscribers spent on the service increased 58% in the quarter, compared to a year ago. April saw a 62% increase. On a per-subscriber basis, the time spent on the platform rose 12%.
The live streaming platform Frndly TV has signed a deal with Weigel Broadcasting to add five of Weigel’s diginets to its lineup of streaming services. The deal includes Weigel’s MeTV, H&I (Heroes & Icons), Decades, Start TV, and the new Story Television national network. MeTV and the new Story Television network launched on Frndly TV on March 28 with the others to follow.
Frndly TV, the low-priced streaming TV provider featuring wholesome programming, said it is launching Hallmark Movies Now video-on-demand service as an add-on for subscribers. Subscribers to Frndly TV, who already get three Hallmark Networks — Hallmark Channel, Hallmark Movies & Mysteries and Hallmark Drama — as part of its core $5.99 a month month package, can also subscribe to Hallmark Movies Now for an additional $5.99 a month.
The Denver-based start-up Frndly TV is already profitable from consumers seeking a cheaper, “family-friendly” alternative to cable.
