‘Futurama’ Lands Two-Season Renewal At Hulu

Futurama, which Hulu revived (for the second time in the show’s life) earlier this year, will extend its run on the streamer. Hulu has ordered two more seasons — 20 episodes’ worth — of the animated series from creators Matt Groening and David X. Cohen. Hulu’s initial pickup of Futurama in 2022 was also for two seasons and 20 episodes, so the new order will take the show through season 14. Season 12 is set to premiere in 2024.

‘Futurama’ Revived At Hulu

Nearly 10 years after it signed off, Futurama has been revived for a 20-episode run on Hulu, the third platform for the animated comedy from creators Matt Groening and David X. Cohen. The series that aired its first five seasons on Fox before being revived for three more at Comedy Central will return to production this month for a 2023 premiere. Original creators Matt Groening and David X. Cohen will return alongside voice stars Billy West and Katey Sagal, among others.

SUNDAY OVERNIGHTS

‘Futurama’ Crossover Lifts ‘The Simpsons’

Crossovers are working well for Fox this season. After big ratings for a Family Guy-The Simpsons crossover to start the season, Simpsons got a boost from another crossover last night. Futurama’s characters dropped by for an episode that averaged a 2.9 adults 18-49 rating, up 45% over last week’s 2.0. Of course, Simpsons also had an NFL lead-in last night, which it did not have last week. But by 7:30, that lead-in had faded from a 5.3 at 7 to a 3.1, so it wasn’t as big an advantage as the show usually gets from the NFL.
