2020 Golden Globes Get Airdate On NBC

The Golden Globe Awards will keep their spot as the first big awards show of the 2020 season. NBC and the Hollywood Foreign Press Association announced Friday that the Golden Globes will air Jan. 5, 2020. As they have the past two years, the awards will air the first Sunday in January.

Tina Fey and Amy Poehler may have wrapped up Golden Globes hosting duties indefinitely. Sunday’s awards show, hosted by the former Saturday Night Live stars, posted its best rating in seven years. The show averaged a 14.1 household rating, according to the 56 Nielsen metered markets, marking the top rating since 2007, when the program posted a 16.0 on a Monday night. The Globes were up 8% over last year, when the show averaged a 13.1 metered-market rating.

Sunday’s Golden Globes were a big night for Universal Television, with the studio’s freshman Fox comedy Brooklyn Nine-Nine scoring two surprise wins and co-host Amy Poehler taking home her first prize for NBC’s Parks and Recreation.
