Queen Bee Productions, the production banner co-founded by Judge Judy Sheindlin, has brought on former Twentieth Television president Greg Meidel. In his new role, Meidel will oversee all broadcast, cable and direct to consumer content and distribution for the company, while also participating in the development of new content as a co-executive producer.
Another top Fox executive is leaving in the first wave of layoffs following the completion of the Disney-Fox deal. Greg Meidel, president of Twentieth Television, is out. He is the first high-level TV departure post-merger. The distribution operations of Disney and Fox were expected to be especially hard hit by the consolidation, both on the film and TV side.
Veteran sales exec Ken Lawson will succeed Paul Franklin in overseeing all of Twentieth Television’s broadcast syndication sales as senior vice president and general sales manager.
Twentieth Television will now be under production studio 20th Century Fox Television, where president Greg Meidel will now report to Gary Newman and Dana Walden.
