
Viewers have turned to the cable network HLN over the years for a quick-hit version of its sister, CNN; for coverage of court cases; for Robin Meade’s long-running morning news shows; and for a bevy of true-crime programs, including Nancy Grace’s primetime talk show and repeats of Forensic Files. What it will be recognized for over the months to come is anybody’s guess.

CNN sister network HLN is making a major overhaul of its daytime lineup and axing three live news shows, Across America With Carol Costello, Michaelaand Crime & Justice With Ashleigh Banfield. But CNN sibling HLN hasn’t been able to capitalize on the politically charged environment. Now the former Headline News network is hoping to improve its fortunes by focusing on domestic news that’s relevant to middle America and leaning in to true-crime stories and mysteries, which has become an especially popular genre on TV.

Nancy Grace, who parlayed her stint as a successful prosecutor into a two-decade career as one of cable’s most recognizable and controversial figures, will depart HLN, her TV home for the past 11 years, when her current contract expires in October.
