ND Holly Gauntt Jumps From KDVR To KMGH
Scripps has filled its news director vacancy at KMGH Denver by hiring Holly Gauntt from crosstown rival KDVR, a Tribune station. Gauntt grew up in Denver, but her peripatetic career in TV news has taken her to Oklahoma City, Baltimore, Washington, Philadelphia and Seattle.
This spring, three Denver TV stations installed news directors from out of state, all of them women. All have proven ratings success elsewhere. Two face the task of restoring morale at beaten, battered newsrooms. None believes that gender plays a role in journalistic decision making.
She will take over the news director slot at Tribune’s Fox-CW duopoly KDVR-KWGN, succeeding Ed Kosowski who left in August.
