It’s good news for the two midseason CW series whose fate had not been decided. The Vampire Diaries’ spinoff The Originals and Rob Thomas’ iZombie both are getting another season on the CW. The Originals will return for a fifth season and iZombie for season 4.
The CW has set midseason premiere dates for new limited series Containment, the return of Reign and Beauty and the Beast‘s final season. In addition, the network announced season finale dates for iZombie and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.
CW has given a second season to iZombie, the procedural drama that stars Rose McIver as a promising med student-turned-undead morgue tech. The series, which premiered midseason, has seen steady ratings and has been second to The Flash among the network’s new shows this season.
If the way to a viewer’s heart is through her stomach, then the CW’s marketing efforts for the new horror-comedy iZombie are nothing if not brainy. The network is deploying iZombie-branded food trucks in select pedestrian-friendly locations in New York and Chicago. On the menu: cerebrum-shaped cake pops and ramen burgers (depending on your perspective, the noodle-y buns either resemble brains or viscera).
