Both will reprise their roles from Big Bang Theory after last appearing together in the show’s final episode.
Jim Parsons, WTAE Pittsburgh news director and investigative reporter will be retiring from the Hearst ABC affiliate on Feb. 29. Parsons has been the station’s news director since 2016 and a WTAE investigative reporter for 15 years.
The Big Bang Theory stars Jim Parsons and Mayim Bialik are teaming up again on a new comedy that’s in the works at Fox. The project, which has been given a series commitment at the network, is titled Carla, and is an adaptation of the BBC series Miranda from creator Miranda Hart. Parsons and Bialik will executive produce, with Bialik attached to star.
A Big Bang Theory spinoff series based around a young Sheldon Cooper is in the early stages of development, Jim Parsons, who plays the idiosyncratic genius on the megahit CBS sitcom, is signed on to executive produce along with executive producers Chuck Lorre and Steve Molaro, with Molaro writing the script.
By any measure, The Big Bang Theory is one of TV’s most valuable shows. But it is not immune to the law of diminishing returns, and that simple fact of business physics will sway the upcoming contract negotiations for the show’s stars as the Big Bang stakeholders look to next season and beyond. Contracts for the program’s key cast members are up after this season, the show’s 10th on CBS.

The Big Bang Theory’s Jim Parsons once again tops this list, this year with a $25.5 million take earned between June 1, 2015 and June 1, 2016. As was the case with last year’s list, a lucrative Big Bang contract counted for the lion’s share of Parsons’ earnings, as it did for his fellow castmates Johnny Galecki (No. #2 on the list, with $24 million in earnings during the period), Simon Helberg (whose $22.5 million in earnings gave him the No. 3 spot) and Kunal Nayyar (No.4, with $22 million).
