Former Broadcasters Foundation Of America President Jim Thompson To Be Honored Posthumously With Chairman’s Award
The award will be presented at the Broadcasters Foundation Breakfast on April 19 during the NAB Show in Las Vegas.
The longtime broadcaster took over the reins of the organization in 2009, guiding the charitable group to more than quadruple the amount of financial aid it distributes to radio and TV professionals from $400,000 to nearly $2 million last year. He was 75.
As Jim Thompson announces his retirement at the end of 2022, he and Tim McCarthy will serve as co-presidents for a year, after which Thompson will move into a consultant role.
Do You Know Someone In Need? See Jim
Jim Thompson is president of the Broadcasters Foundation of America and it’s his job to identify broadcasters who are in acute need because of illness, accident, other misfortune and then write them a monthly check. Is there someone you know who could benefit from such help? Contact Jim and let him know. Oh, by the way, Jim accepts checks, too.
