Jimmy Kimmel Uses WTVF Story To Bust On Congressman

NBC has greenlit a summertime revival of the iconic game show Password, to be hosted by Keke Palmer and feature Jimmy Fallon — who has made the guessing game a part of his late-night talk shows over the years — as a recurring celebrity player. The premiere episode will be dedicated to the late Betty White, who is well remembered for her appearances on the original Password and occasionally participated in Fallon’s Late Night version. The eight-episode season will culminate with a special episode featuring a star-studded, all-celebrity lineup playing for charity.

At least four years ago, over dinner at Frankies in Brooklyn, Jimmy Kimmel threw out a wacky idea to fellow latenight host, Jimmy Fallon: What if the two switched shows for a night? Nearly half a decade later, on April Fools’ Day, the two Jimmys pulled it off, surprising their latenight audiences and everyone watching at home, when they came out on each other’s shows: Kimmel as host of NBC’s The Tonight Show from New York and Fallon emceeing ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live from Hollywood Blvd. in Los Angeles. To ensure the whole thing remained a secret, only a cadre of relevant producers, writers and network executives were let in on the gag.

Jimmy Fallon addressed his positive test on The Tonight Show Monday evening, saying it occurred as he was going in to tape a guest spot on the final Saturday Night Live of the year.

Seth Meyers, James Corden and Jimmy Fallon paid tribute to the stand-up comic and former Saturday Night Live cast member on Tuesday.

Jimmy Fallon is sticking with The Tonight Show. The comedian has signed a contract extension with NBC to continue hosting the latenight show. His current contract runs through 2021 after the network extended the deal in August 2015 for an additional three and a half years.

It has become a ritual — a somewhat inexplicable one, as TBS’s Conan O’Brien noted — for these comics to come on the air after acts of terrorism, school shootings or other national traumas to try to make sense of them for their audiences. “Today feels very different,” O’Brien said Monday night. “It doesn’t feel right to talk about my feelings of sadness and anger. That truly feels inadequate and somehow wrong.”

Jimmy Fallon apologized on Tuesday after drawing criticism for a Saturday Night Live sketch from 2000, featuring him in blackface, that resurfaced online. In the skit, Fallon was portraying comedian Chris Rock while talking to Darrell Hammond as TV host Regis Philbin. NBC had previously removed the video from the internet, but clips have been circulating on Twitter and YouTube.

Latenight hosts dedicated a portion of their Monday night shows to speak out about gun violence in the wake of the tragic events that unfolded in Las Vegas on Sunday night. Jimmy Kimmel choked up in an emotional response to the deadly attack, while Seth Meyers had a pointed message for Congress.
The Politicization of Latenight TV
Unlike Carson and Leno, Steve Colbert and and Jimmy Kimmel, the reigning latenight hosts at CBS and ABC, respectively, are not hesitating to take on the sitting president and his policies. And in the case of Colbert, his fans have now have an expectation that he will lead the anti-Trump resistance.
Latenight got partisan. The competition found its groove. And now The Tonight Show host is looking for all the luck he can get.

PASADENA, Calif. He’s one of NBC’s biggest success stories — keeping The Tonight Show at the top of the latenight ratings with bouncy show tunes and campy games. Now Jimmy Fallon is also one of NBC’s biggest worries. Sources say NBC is worried that Fallon’s drinking has turned excessive. And while they’re not doing anything about it — yet — “It’s gone from being a whisper to a chatter,” says one industry insider of Fallon’s over-the-top behavior.

Six months into Conan O’Brien’s run as host of The Tonight Show, it was becoming clear it wouldn’t work out. Ratings had plummeted since Jay Leno’s departure and NBC was suddenly lagging its late night rivals for the first time in years. But this time around, the transition is going much more smoothly. In fact, six months in, Leno’s replacement this time around, Jimmy Fallon, is doing better than Leno and has increased his lead over Jimmy Kimmel and David Letterman.
YouGov’s BrandIndex survey found that the two networks had big gains, most likely a reflection of the broad appeal of Jimmy Fallon and Jimmy Kimmel.
As promised during the much-promoted run-up to his Tonight Show debut, Jimmy Fallon made no drastic changes to the Late Night formula that had served him for five years. He remained funny, gracious, bubbly and, above all, comfortable presiding over a show that was different mostly for its earlier time slot, its classier production values and legendary brand name. A key part of the celebratory spirit for Fallon was the fact that, after more than 40 years in Los Angeles, he and NBC have brought Tonight back to New York and Rockefeller Plaza.
Jay Leno closes his two-decade run on Tonight Feb. 6 with Billy Crystal and Garth Brooks as guests. On Feb. 17, Jimmy Fallon debuts a week’s worth of shows at midnight following NBC’s coverage of the Winter Olympics. He moves into his regular time slot a week later, followed by Seth Meyers, who has Saturday Night Live chum Amy Poehler booked as his first guest.
As the network prepares to move Jimmy Fallon to its choice time slot, there’s now new art and a primetime clip show to raise awareness. Details were slim on what to expect from the special, but viewers can likely anticipate a strong showing from the many musical numbers and comedy sketches that have gone viral over the years.

Despite months of planning, Jimmy Fallon won’t be getting a big, new $25 million studio at 30 Rock after all when he takes over The Tonight Show and moves it to New York in 2014. Instead, he’ll have to settle for a mere $5 million renovation of Studio 6B, where he currently hosts Late Night With Jimmy Fallon.
David Letterman poked fun at Leno and NBC. Leno poked fun at Letterman and NBC. Jimmy Kimmel mocked himself. Fallon played it cool. And Conan O’Brien took the high road after NBC said Wednesday that Fallon will inherit Tonight from Leno in 2014 — as O’Brien did in 2009, before Leno took it back.
Saturday Night Live producer Lorne Michaels will take over as producer of the new Tonight Show, which will move back to New York with new host Jimmy Fallon.
Jimmy Fallon’s march to inherit The Tonight Show is nearly complete. The Late Night host has closed a new deal with NBC that will pave the way for him to replace Jay Leno in the 11:35 p.m. slot, a well-placed source says. The timing and nature of the Fallon announcement is said to be in flux, with some at NBC said to believe that the network should wait to confirm the Tonight transition until it can close a deal with Fallon’s replacement. The strong frontrunner for that 12:35 a.m. job is said to be Saturday Night Live stalwart Seth Meyers.
