The former news director of Telemundo’s KVDA San Antonio, Tex., will oversee news operations at the company’s Sacramento and Fresno stations beginning July 22.
After spearheading the group’s KVDA San Antonio’s transformation to a multiplatform local TV news operation, Telemundo taps veteran broadcaster José Suárez to lead its stations in Fresno, Sacramento and Salt Lake City.
Telemundo’s KNSO will begin airing its first-ever local newscast Noticiero Telemundo Valle Central today. The one-hour Spanish-language program will air weekdays from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. and deliver local news to viewers in Central California, including the Fresno, Madera, Tulare and Visalia markets. The program is being produced locally in partnership with Nexstar Broadcasting Group’s CBS affiliate KGPE and NBC affil KSEE in Fresno as well as Telemundo in Bakersfield.
The Fresno TV executive is tapped by ZGS Communications to head its Telemundo affiliate there.
