The test, which included the Verance Aspect watermark and Dolby AC-4, successfully demonstrated that the dialogue enhancement feature of Dolby AC-4 can be delivered as a standalone audio stream over the internet and paired with video delivered through a live linear broadcast.

Cronkite Awards To Honor Five Stations

KUSA Denver, KXAN Austin, WDSU New Orleans, KPBS San Diego and WITI Milwaukee will receive the Walter Cronkite Award for Excellence in Television Political Journalism. Also to be recognized are Hearst TV and investigative journalists at Univision and CNBC.com. Winners were announced today by the Norman Lear Center at the University of Southern California’s Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism.

Noncom KPBS Finds Good News In News

The San Diego PBS station began its daily, 6:30 p.m. Evening Edition broadcast 15 months ago and is attracting both viewers and underwriters with its formula of more in-depth coverage and interviews. Starting at the end of the month, the station will move it up to 5 p.m. with a repeat at 6:30, sandwiched in among BBC World News and PBS NewsHour.

The noncommercial station is launching a new weeknight local news and analysis show, KPBS Evening Edition, beginning Sept. 26. Topics will differ by night: Monday, business and technology; Tuesdays, health; Wednesdays, reports from the Fronteras local journalism center; Thursdays, community news; and Fridays, culture.
