To be sure, Houston is in a good place these days. The oil industry that fuels the local economy is on solid footing and the region for years has worked to diversify its business portfolio, with the likes of health care, aerospace and the legal profession growing. And the competition among stations for news audiences is robust. ABC owns KTRK and Graham Media has NBC affiliate KPRC. Fox owns KRIV-KTXH, and Tegna has CBS outlet KHOU. Univision owns KXLN and Telemundo holds KTMD.
KTXH, KRIV, KIAH, KFTH, KXLN, KTRK, KPRC, KHOU, KTMD and KUHT are now broadcasting with ATSC 3.0 technology.

KRIV Houston reporter Ivory Hecker on Monday went off script during a 5 p.m. broadcast, alleging that she is being muzzled by the network and will release secret recordings of “what goes on behind the scenes at Fox.” The station on Tuesday confirmed that she is no longer with Fox 26. A station spokesperson said: “This incident involves nothing more than a disgruntled former employee seeking publicity by promoting a false narrative produced through selective editing and misrepresentation.”
KRIV Houston reporter Ivory Hecker started her live shot Monday by telling viewers that the station’s owner, Fox Corp., is muzzling her and she is releasing tapes to prove it. “I am going to be releasing some recordings about what goes on behind the scenes at Fox, because it applies to you, the viewers,” she said. “I found a nonprofit journalism group called Project Veritas that is going to help put that out tomorrow, so tune into them.” She then went on with her live shot.

Game 6 on KRIV Houston drew a 31.2 among adults 25-54, while on WTTG Washington it delivered an 18.2. Game 7 on KRIV got a 32.0, while on WTTG it drew a 24.9 (the market’s highest rated sports program in the last 12 months, excluding the Super Bowl).
