Coastal Television To Acquire Red River Broadcast

Red River Broadcast Co., the owner of Fox affiliates KVRR Fargo, N.D., and KQDS Duluth, Minn., is selling the stations to Coastal Television. Coastal operates 10 TV stations in Alaska, Wyoming, New York, Mississippi, Tennessee, Arkansas and Indiana.

Forum Communications’ Planned Purchase Of KVRR & KQDS Falls Through

A deal for Forum Communications Company to acquire Fox affiliates KVRR Fargo, N.D., and KQDS Duluth, Minn., has come undone. The deal failed to materialize as both Forum Communications and Red River Broadcasting awaited what is called a “Big Four waiver request” from the FCC. The waiver would have allowed Forum to acquire a second “Big Four” network affiliate in the Fargo market.

The Fargo, N.D., Fox affiliate’s news director since the station went on the air in 2000 is stepping down. Shaw, who has battled a chronic illness since last September, told his newsroom staff that he will step down Friday to more fully recuperate.

Fox affiliate KVRR Fargo, N.D., broadcast its first high-definition newscast Wednesday night. The station has been producing newscasts for viewers in eastern North Dakota and northwestern Minnesota since 2000.
