The station’s former sales director will lead operations at Tegna’s ABC affiliate in the Texas capital.

Leaders from Graham, Tegna, Cox and Gray told a TVNewsCheck webinar last week that station projects with a strong local value proposition — and a deeper collaboration between the newsroom and creative services — can yield remarkable audience engagement.

He joins from WVIT Hartford, Conn., to succeed Christina Ginn as head of journalism at the Cox Media-owned ABC affiliate.

She comes to Austin, Texas, from NBC News in New York to succeed Tim Ryan, who moved to KUSA Denver last year.

Kristie Gonzales was recruited by Tegna to be the general manager of its ABC affiliate in Austin, Texas, even though it was to be her first time in the corner office. “They took a chance on me and they believed in me and supported me during my first year,” she says.
