Joan Barrett, president-GM of the Wichita, Kan., CBS affiliate, told her staff on Wednesday that she will be leaving after the station is sold to Gray Television. Gray previously agreed to buy KWCH and other TV and radio stations from Schurz Communications. The sale is expected to close Feb. 1.

KSAS Sues KWCH Over News Production
Fox affiliate KSAS Wichita owner Newport Television filed suit Thursday in District Court against Sunflower Broadcasting, parent of CBS affil KWCH, alleging that KWCH has stopped producing KSAS’ 9 p.m. newscast live, as required by contract. Instead, the suit says, KWCH is recording the KSAS newscast in advance and producing a live 9 p.m. newscast for KWCH’s sister station, CW affiliate KSCW.
Sunflower Broadcasting’s CBS affiliate in Wichita, Kan., will produce the two half-hour newscasts for the co-owned CW affil beginning in September.
Noticias Univision Kansas will air on the Univision affiliate weeknights at 10 beginning April 20 and will be produced by KWCH.
