KXAS Getting Repack Help From T-Mobile

T-Mobile and the Dallas NBC O&O announced an agreement to accelerate the repacking of the station’s 600 MHz spectrum in North Texas and surrounding areas. KXAS will move to its new frequency in late May, more than a year earlier than the FCC deadline of June 21, 2019. The agreement allows KXAS to move to its new frequency and maximize its coverage area earlier than anticipated.

KXAS Wins Neuharth Investigative Award

NBC-owned KXAS Dallas and the Dallas Morning News are the winners of RTDNA’s 2015 Gannett Foundation Al Neuharth Award for Investigative Journalism. The two won for their Injured Heroes, Broken Promises series of stories that focused on the treatment of soldiers by the Army’s Warrior Transition Units, designed to help service members who have suffered physical and psychological wounds adjust to civilian life.

KXAS, Paper Partner On Investigative Project

Dallas NBC O&O KXAS and the Dallas Morning News teamed up to investigate complaints of harassment by hundreds of soldiers at the Army’s Warrior Transition Units that were designed to help the injured heal. In the process of documenting the poor treatment of Army veterans the two media outlets learned about how to work together.

DallasNews-KXAS Mobilizes Ebola Coverage

The U.S.’s first Ebola patient in Dallas may have slipped through early screening, but The Dallas Morning News (in partnership with NBC O&O KXAS) isn’t allowing any holes in its digital coverage of the fast-moving story. David Duitch, editor of DallasNews.com, says that the newsroom has mobilized fast with an Ebola landing page and a salvo of beat reporting, social coverage and online videos in addition to maps and timelines.

The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences unveiled nominations for the 35th annual News and Documentary Emmy Awards.Regional nominees are WTHR, WFAA, WISN, KXTX, WNBC, KING, KNXV and KXAS.
