The E.W. Scripps Co. said Thursday its Newsy brand would get a new name, Scripps News, under a newly formed national news division. Having just rebooted and widely expanded its distribution with OTA last October, is an overhaul in the offing once more for Newsy?

E.W. Scripps CEO Adam Symson told a Deutsche Bank media conference Tuesday that the proliferation of streaming subscription channels, coupled with internet access costs, are driving many younger consumers to “discover” free TV once more.

Lisa Knutson, president of E.W. Jason Combs, Scripps’ current financial planning VP, will replace Lisa Knutson, who will lead the newly combined businesses of Ion Media, the five Katz networks and Newsy.

EVP-CFO Lisa Knutson will lead the new Scripps national television networks business, and EVP, National Media Laura Tomlin will become chief administrative officer of the company.
Knutson becomes EVP-CFO after serving as interim CFO and Lyons is now the company’s to SVP, controller and treasurer.
The moves follow Adam Symson’s move to president-CEO earlier this month. The moves are promotions for Brian Lawlor, Laura Tomlin, Lisa Knutson, Tim Wesolowski and William Appleton.
