Regis Philbin’s last day on ABC’s Live with Regis & Kelly daytime syndicated show will create a hefty advertising windfall. Thirty-second commercials in Philbin’s final episode on Nov. 18 have been sold for $250,000, most of which was bought by advertisers during the upfront market in June.
After 28 years of hosting Live! With Regis and Kelly, Regis Philbin will sign off on Friday, Nov. 18. The long-time host announced his official end date on the show today.
TV icon Regis Philbin, 79, said five months ago that he wanted to leave Live With Regis and Kelly in November. While a decision on Philbin’s successor isn’t imminent, Disney has been considering a range of candidates, say people close to Disney-ABC Domestic Television, which distributes the show. Radio-TV personality Ryan Seacrest, 36; TV host and former Bravo executive Andy Cohen, 43; and TV host and actor Mark Consuelos, 40, are all said to be possible contenders. Consuelos is married to Philbin’s co-host, Kelly Ripa.
