Solid ‘Madam Secretary’ Premiere On Sunday
CBS’s Madam Secretary got off to a respectable start in its fourth season debut on Sunday but other shows didn’t fare as well against NBC’s Sunday Night Football. Madam Secretary premiered at 10 p.m. to 7.1 million viewers and an 0.8 rating/3 share in the adults 18-49 demographic. That was up 18% in viewers compared to its season-three bow, and even with year-ago benchmarks in adults 18-49 and adults 25-54 (1.2).
Netflix leads off-network launch with previous-season episodes of the CBS drama currently available for streaming. WE tv to launch the series on cable in 2018. CBS O&Os will serve as launch group for broadcast syndication beginning in fall 2018.

CBS has joined sibling CW in giving full-season orders to all of its fall series that have premiered so far. That includes new dramas Scorpion, NCIS: New Orleans, Madam Secretary and Stalker. It is unclear whether all orders are for nine episodes.
CBS will air the Madam Secretary pilot twice on its premiere night, to hopefully offset the effect of a delay of the network’s primetime lineup by a half hour due to an NFL double-header.
