Differences over reverse comp will for the most part be set aside next week during meetings of the Big Three networks affiliate boards at the NAB Show in Las Vegas, according to the chairmen of the boards. Rather than money, the meetings will concentrate on primetime programming and cooperative plans for distributing local broadcast signals on digital platforms, they say. Fox is the only one of the Big Four networks to schedule a full-affiliates meeting at NAB.

Gavin Mann, Accenture’s global broadcasting industry lead, examines media industry trends ahead of the NAB Show April 16-21 in Las Vegas. With topics ranging from OTT video, 4K, to virtual reality, the show is no longer just for broadcasters, attracting speakers and attendees from cable, telco and OTT companies.
Affiliate Groups To Meet At NAB Show
The National Association of Broadcasters announced today that Fox and The CW will host meetings with their affiliated television station representatives at the NAB Show in Las Vegas. Also, the affiliate boards of directors of ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox will once again hold meetings.
She’ll go to Las Vegas to help sell the show with the working title Palin Rules that’s being pitched for a September 2017 syndication debut.

At the NAB Show, Axle Video is taking the concept of maximizing feet on the street to a whole new level by making it possible for TV networks, station groups and individual broadcast stations to put hundreds — if not thousands — of citizen journalists on the street shooting news footage with their own smart phones and uploading it for possible use on air.
The show’s organizers say the changes place an emphasis on safety while they are striving to minimize inconvenience.
