In an apparent effort to emphasize the unique value of the company’s TV stations, Valari Staab, newly appointed NBC station group president, is rebranding her NBC Local Media division as NBC Owned Television Stations.

NBC Teams With Fwix On Local Content

NBC Local Media is working with geolocation startup Fwix as the first media partner to test the company’s new Geotagger button across its online properties in 10 major U.S. markets. The app will appear on sites the same as content-sharing buttons, such as ShareThis or Twitter, and gives users more information about places mentioned on a given site or Web page.

Staab Replaces Wallace As NBC O&O Chief

Valari Dobson Staab leaves her GM post at ABC O&O KGO San Francisco to become president of NBC Local Media, replacing John Wallace who takes over NBC Universal Media Works for the departing John Eck. Staab will also oversee local online efforts, LX.TV and Skycastle Entertainment.
