A source tells TVNewser that NBC News is offering buyout options for staffers at NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt. However, we hear these buyout offers are not directly related to the Covid-19 pandemic, nor are they linked to the recent arrival of Cesar Conde, the Telemundo-turned-NBC News Group chairman who assumed the new role in May.

Jenn Suozzo has been named executive producer of NBC Nightly News With Lester Holt. She was interim executive producer on the program, and before that was senior broadcast producer.
NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt executive producer Sam Singal has stepped down from his role on the evening newscast. Singal’s No. 2, Nightly News senior broadcast producer Jennifer Suozzo, will take over on an interim basis.

ABC’s World News Tonight with anchor David Muir just topped NBC’s Nightly News with Lester Holt in weekly TV ratings for the first time in nearly two years. The ABC News program won March 5-9 in the key 25-54 demographic, the 18-49 demo, and total viewers last week. Ordinarily, it is the main demo that alludes the Disney-owned journalism arm.
NBC News changed the name of every broadcast of Lester Holt’s newscast last week, to NBC Nitely News. Not on the screen of course, because that would be poor spelling. But in Nielsen’s books, so none of NBC News’ evening newscasts would be included in Nightly News’ season average. In NBC’s defense, due to sports, only one day last week would all three of the broadcast evening newscasts have been rated.
Anchors David Muir and Lester Holt are in the midst of a spirited competition for first place in television’s evening news ratings. After several years in second, ABC’s World News Tonight with Muir has lately pulled even with NBC’s Nightly News and some weeks a relative handful of viewers separate the shows.
NBC Nightly News will introduce a new open this evening. The open starts with a computer generated view of Earth before zooming in quickly to the New York City area. The camera flies by the Statue of Liberty and over Manhatten before coming to rest on a view of 30 Rock.
NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt is on a roll, winning its fifth week in row in all measurements and growing the audience double digits compared to the same week last year. Nightly News was up 13% in viewers and up a whopping 25% in the adults 25-54 demo.
In his first sweeps month as Nightly News anchor Lester Holt gave the NBC broadcast its biggest July audience in 10 years, and its best in the adults 25-54 demo since 2013. Holt officially took over the show six weeks ago, but has been anchoring since February when Brian Williams was taken off the show.
NBC Nightly News is No.1 in total viewers and 25-54s in his first four weeks as permanent anchor, after months of back-and-forth with ABC.
Lester Holt is on a ratings roll on NBC Nightly News. Last week, the evening news broadcast scored its third consecutive weekly ratings win since Holt was officially named as the replacement for Brian Williams as anchor. The program also has taken a narrow lead over ABC World News Tonight with David Muir in the 2014-15 TV season among viewers age 25-54, the group targeted by advertisers who buy commercials on news programs.
Lester Holt got off to a strong start in his first week as permanent anchor of NBC Nightly News. Holt’s broadcast averaged 8 million viewers for the week of June 22-26, topping ABC World News Tonight with David Muir (7.7 million) and CBS Evening News with Scott Pelley (6.6 million). It was the best ratings performance for Nightly since the week of April 20, and the widest margin of victory over ABC’s program in three months.
