
A source tells TVNewser that NBC News is offering buyout options for staffers at NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt. However, we hear these buyout offers are not directly related to the Covid-19 pandemic, nor are they linked to the recent arrival of Cesar Conde, the Telemundo-turned-NBC News Group chairman who assumed the new role in May.

Jenn Suozzo has been named executive producer of NBC Nightly News With Lester Holt. She was interim executive producer on the program, and before that was senior broadcast producer.
NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt executive producer Sam Singal has stepped down from his role on the evening newscast. Singal’s No. 2, Nightly News senior broadcast producer Jennifer Suozzo, will take over on an interim basis.
ABC’s World News Tonight with anchor David Muir just topped NBC’s Nightly News with Lester Holt in weekly TV ratings for the first time in nearly two years. The ABC News program won March 5-9 in the key 25-54 demographic, the 18-49 demo, and total viewers last week. Ordinarily, it is the main demo that alludes the Disney-owned journalism arm.
NBC News changed the name of every broadcast of Lester Holt’s newscast last week, to NBC Nitely News. Not on the screen of course, because that would be poor spelling. Lester Holt is on a ratings roll on NBC Nightly News. Last week, the evening news broadcast scored its third consecutive weekly ratings win since Holt was officially named as the replacement for Brian Williams as anchor. The program also has taken a narrow lead over ABC World News Tonight with David Muir in the 2014-15 TV season among viewers age 25-54, the group targeted by advertisers who buy commercials on news programs.
Lester Holt got off to a strong start in his first week as permanent anchor of NBC Nightly News. Holt’s broadcast averaged 8 million viewers for the week of June 22-26, topping ABC World News Tonight with David Muir (7.7 million) and CBS Evening News with Scott Pelley (6.6 million). It was the best ratings performance for Nightly since the week of April 20, and the widest margin of victory over ABC’s program in three months.
