KSDK St. Louis Drops Noon Newscast
Fans of the noon newscast on Tegna’s NBC affiliate in St. Louis, KSDK — which apparently there were not enough of — will have to make do without that show from here on out. The 30-minute broadcast, with Ryan Dean anchoring and Anthony Slaughter serving up the weather, was discontinued on Monday because of poor ratings.

WXIA Adds 5 P.M. News, Drops Noon, 7 P.M.
Gannett’s Atlanta NBC affiliate is dropping Dr. Phil at 5 p.m. starting March 2 and bringing back a local newscast at that hour. But Dr. Phil fans shouldn’t despair. The station was already showing repeats of the show at 3 p.m. Now, the first-run editions of his show that had been on at 5 will air at 3. The station is also ending its noon and 7 p.m. news programs.
For the first time in more than four years, WSLS Roanoke, Va., will air news at noon.The Media General NBC affiliate’s noon newscast returns Monday, with Patrick McKee as anchor and Kristina Montuori doing weather. The broadcast will be WSLS’s first weekday noon newscast since March 2010, when the station scrapped the news and debuted Our Blue Ridge, a program that focused primarily on lifestyles, entertainment and community events.

WFLD Expected To Set Noon Anchor Team
WAVE Moving Noon News To 11 A.M.
Having suffered through a November sweeps in which its noon newscast was attracting less audience than WLKY, WHAS, Family Feud and the Jerry Springer Show, WAVE GM Ken Selvaggi is making a big change next month. Starting Jan. 9, WAVE’s noon newscast will air at 11 a.m., followed by Extra at 11:30.
The NBC O&O’s new half-hour newscast will be anchored by Marion Brooks.
Twenty years after WMAQ Chicago got out of the noon news business, it’s about to get back in. Nothing is official yet, but the NBC-owned station is expected to name Marion Brooks solo anchor of a new newscast to air at noon Monday through Friday, starting soon after Labor Day.
The Meredith CBS affiliate in Atlanta will drop its noon newscast this fall but add a 9 a.m. hour to its Better Mornings broadcast. Better Mornings currently airs from 4:30 to 7 a.m., followed by two hours of CBS’s The Early Show. People’s Court is now the network’s 9 a.m. show.
