NBC is a few days away from wrapping up its second straight November sweeps victory. The network holds a solid lead over No. 2 CBS with just a few days left in the four-week period used to set ad rates for stations. NBC is averaging a 2.6 adults 18-49 rating and 7 share from Oct. 31 to Nov. 20.
ABC, the network that entered sweeps in fourth place among adults 18-49, has the early lead in the demo. During the first full week of sweeps, through Nov. 6, the most recent numbers available from Nielsen, ABC held a very narrow lead over second-place NBC, which has finished first among 18-49s all but one week this fall. ABC is averaging a 2.4 18-49 rating, with NBC right behind at 2.3. CBS is in third with a 2.2, and Fox trails in a distant fourth with a 1.3.

It’s been nine long years but NBC’s primetime lineup has made the network No. 1 in this year’s November sweeps. “This is the first time we’ve been this happy in a long time,” said NBC Entertainment Chairman Bob Greenblatt today. “It is possible to move the needle. There is a spring in our step,” he added.
NBC is basking in what appears to be its first November primetime TV sweeps win in nine years, though the sweeps period doesn’t officially end until Wednesday night and the numbers won’t be official for another week. Honchos at the perennially fourth-ranked broadcast TV network have followed the ratings with wide-eyed amazement, waiting for the bottom to fall out.
